Poem: Jazz and A Drink

Jazz and A Drink

Day took so long to fade,
as I long for the words you have made.
"I have just the thing for you,
a bit of jazz and a drink or two."

Oh, I've waited the whole night
sipping wine in candlelight.
Holding onto your promise.
Hoping that tonight you've changed

Jazz and a drink helped me through.
Forgetting for a moment what was true.
The feeling flowing away for one night.
The music setting things right,
but Jazz and a drink isn't the same without you.

You act like nothing happened
you've told another excuse
You left me disappointed,
yet I still end up believing you.
